Setting the Nameservers for a Domain

Setting the Nameservers for a Domain

If you already own a domain from another registrar or hosting company, you can point it to One&OnlyHost by updating its nameserver (DNS) settings. Your billing and domain registration will remain with your current registrar, but your DNS will direct visitors to your One&OnlyHost services.

Note: If you registered your domain directly with One&OnlyHost, your nameservers are already configured — no action is needed.

When to Set Your Domain’s Nameservers

You’ll need to set your nameservers if:

  • You’ve purchased a domain from another provider and want to host it with One&OnlyHost.

  • You’re moving your website or email services to One&OnlyHost.

For reliability, you must set at least two nameservers (primary and secondary). This ensures your domain can still be resolved if one server is unavailable.

Warning: This method does not apply to unmanaged VPS hosting, as DNS services are not preinstalled.

One&OnlyHost Nameservers

All One&OnlyHost accounts use the same nameservers:

ns1.oaodns.com ns2.oaodns.com ns3.oaodns.com ns4.oaodns.com

How to Change Your Nameservers at Your Registrar

  1. Log in to your domain registrar’s control panel.

  2. Locate the DNS or nameserver management section.

  3. Replace the existing nameservers with the ones above.

  4. Save your changes.

If you cannot find where to update your nameservers, contact your registrar’s support team for assistance.

Note: DNS changes typically take up to 24 hours to propagate worldwide. During this time, you may not be able to:

  • Visit your site at your domain name (you can still view it via a temporary URL or hosts file).

  • Access email accounts linked to the domain.

  2. In the left sidebar, click Domains > My Domains.

  3. Select the domain you want to update.

  4. Click Edit Nameservers.

  5. Enter the nameservers listed above or any namesever you wish.

  6. Click Change Nameservers.

Your updates will take effect after DNS propagation (up to 24 hours).
